the resurrection of my blog.....
Hrmmmm..... thought I might make a post since I re-discovered my blog from 4 years ago........
so yer I wont try and update on the last 4 years.... A LOT has happened obviously and a lot is now different.
One big thing now though is we are probably about 4-5 weeks away from our first child!
It's getting very real now, although it still will probably only hit me once Liz goes into labour.... I'm excited about it, but also very apprehensive as a first time Dad normally is....
So yer I'll see if I can update this blog with baby news & photos maybe??? Hopefully it wont be another 4 years before the next post!

Yikes.... has it been that long??
Okay I didnt realise it has been so long since I posted lol... sorry to those people who actually do look on here!!
Anyways so I have no idea what to post about....
SO its a New year already... in fact I think we are already 1/12 of the way through 2006 lol.. soon enough it will be xmas again... I turn 30 before then though, which sort of scares me. Apologies to anyone already over 30! :P I sort of think well that means I must be getting older (err...der) and more mature, and should be settling down and having a family... (one day..).
Saying goodbye to my youth is not an easy option I think. Anyway I have until november to prepare myself lol...
Work is busy atm... always is this time of the year. Everyone has been on holidays, there was xmas and people have lots of photos to print. Yer and I'm also busy trying to organise this years FUEL weekend in March. We are having a few hiccups which is causing a bit of stress, but we will get through it.
What else? ummm... tennis is still happening. we are sitting fourth atm on the table so it will be close to see if we make the finals.
Plenty of interetsing weather lately too, so that has kept me busy taking photos! Check out www.weatherchase.net for the latest but here's a nice photo of a rainbow I got last Sunday in the Mid North, especially for someone I know who likes rainbows and wanted to remind me that I actually did have a blog lol.....

Weather, footy, and the US of A...
Went to the Channel 10 'Extreme Weather' Calendar launch on Thursday. One of my photos was lucky enough to be selected so I'm now known as 'Mr April' lol... no its not a photo of me - its this photo of a storm just nth of Eudunda taken in December last year. NOT a good weekend in the football with the Crows losing and Port winning... means we play Port in the semi-final next weekend. Might just have to move to QLD if port happen to win... I could not handle it!!
Meanwhile it appears we are seeing the 'real' USA as a result of the hurricane that affected New Orleans and surrounds... perhaps a little more focus on the little people and less money spent on arms, wars, and making the rich 'richer'...

Melbourne....
Well, what a great weekend!
Drove over with another ASWA member on Friday. We thought it might be cold enough still in the Grampians for snow to be on Mt William, so we did a slight detour. The decision came off cos indeed it was still bitterly cold up there with a good cover of snow still up on the summit. Will try and post a couple of photos later....
Arrived in melbourne about 7pm for an informal dinner and video night at the pancake parlour at doncaster. (video night = lots of storm footage!!!)
Stayed at my cousin's apartment on the 12th floor in Southbank so it was a great convenient location. Walking distance to the CBD, Casino, etc...
Saturday we had the main conference with some great presentations and footage.. the evening was spent watching the Showdown on TV (cant miss the footy!!!) followed by a visit to the Casino, although I couldnt afford to waste any money - I just watched other people do that! :P
Sunday we had a BBQ at a park near the Yarra, followed by coffees back at the pancake parlour.
An early night followed by the drive back to Adelaide (via Hamilton) on Monday.
All up a very enjoyable weekend meeting lots of people and a very informative and interesting conference.

Bloody Poms...
Bit gutted tonight after those blasted Poms won the second test by 2 runs after we almost snatched it out of their grasp... one day we will win a close one! Oh well, we will just have to make do with winning the series 4-1 then lol.....
The Fuel cards night went really well on the 30th. Got no sleep though and am still suffering cos I've spent too much time watching the cricket to ungodly hours... I love the game 500. I could play it for hours... come to think of it, we did do that! Good to win too lol.... ;)
Looking forward to next weekend. I start about 10 days holidays from Friday. :)
I'm heading over to Melbourne until Monday for the national ASWA (aust severe weather assoc) conference. It will be good to meet a lot of people that I know of and have chatted/corresponded with over the net during the last few years.
Then a week off at home, not going away, just gonna get a few things done around the house that have been neglected. Will see how much I actually do get done lol.... ;)

Whats happening?
Hrmmm been awhile since i have posted anything of note again... how boring is my life lol...
What can i tell you (the 3 people who actually know about this blog lol)... well.... I'm currently a batchelor and LOVING IT!! :P Liz is away for 10 days at her parents place in Whyalla so its been pretty cool being by myself for a change... ;) I reckon you sometimes need a bit of a break when you are married, otherwise you would go crazy! :P
The last 2 days at work has been very busy, which after the VERY slow and boring week last week, is a nice change. People are coming back after holidays and getting their photos printed and spending money again which is good, cos it makes my boss happy lol....
'Fuel' (the young adults ministry) continues to grow, as we have a Fuel 500 event coming up in a couple of weeks. This is basically an evening of worship and card-playing! You can even play right through the night if you want! I'm also co-ordinating the Fuel dinner in October - which will be our launch for the next years 'Fuel' weekend. We are planning a semi-formal evening with a notable guest speaker.
Footy is going well atm with the Crows 2nd on the ladder and Port likely to miss the finals (yay). Hopefully I can get to a couple of finals , and maybe even the GF!!
I'm finished my tennis season now, finishing runners-up with Viv in our division. Having a break now before the summer season starts again in october.
Table tennis is currently on holidays break, which I dont mind as we have struggled pretty much this season. We have had 3 wins but its going to be a struggle to make the finals.
Dunno what else is happening so thats it for now.

And the winner is....
Well, tonight I booked in my holidays...... for 2012!
Yes thats right, I'm planning ahead. No use doing it at the last minute!
Tonight, London was awarded the 2012 Olympics, and we plan to be there! After having the unforgettable experience of attending the Sydney games in 2000, we decided straight away that sometime in the future we would attend an Olympics overseas. I reckon London will be a fantastic games, and the best thing is they speak English lol... and it would be really good if they can hold it straight after Wimbledon and just before an Ashes series.... :P
Might just have to go start saving some money though lol.....

a lesson to learn & some storms finally!!
Learnt something today at work.... don't accidently put bleach in the developer...........
Nice to finally see some storms this evening. It's been a while since our last decent storm and at least they have also brought some good rains as well. I've had 34mm here at home in the last 24 hrs. Hopefully much of the farming areas have also recieved substantial falls.

No we shouldn't boycott
I've come to the conclusion that boycotting Indonesia would not in any way, help the situation. Some actions by Australians in the last few days have been more of a hindrance to the whole case than a help.
After reading an article by the editor of the Jakarta Post, Ive also decided that the Australian media are mainly to blame for Corby's 20 year sentence., and that the only hope for Corby now is if the Australian media and government let the whole story go for now and let justice run its course. Unfortunately I cant see that happening.

should we boycott?
After hearing of the ridiculous sentence given to Corby today for drug trafficking, I have more or less decided to boycott anything Indonesian. Now I know this is not going to really achieve anything, but I suppose if enough people do it, it could make some sort of statement. Whether its the right thing to do is questionable. I mean, boycotting going to Bali is probably not going to do anythign but cause problems for the tourist operators over there that rely on Aussie money coming in... but still - why run the risk of being sentenced to life imprisionment or even worse for not locking your luggage?
There is a serious question to be asked when they can lock up a terrorist that has killed hundreds of people for less than 4 years but have no problems giving 20 yrs to an innocent person...
Anyway, lets hope some divine intervention happens through the appeals process and some sort of justice is brought to this whole case.

oops been 2 weeks since my last post!
Been a bit busy though. Fuel went off very successfully! Got to that stage now though when you are off the adrenaline rush and are feeling a bit down. Also had a headache all day too.. back to work as normal tomorrow though which should bring me back to reality.
cant think of anythign else to write atm. might have a think and write more tomorrow if anything comes to mind.

Footy and stuff
I have to say that this footy season is going SO MUCH BETTER than I'd ever had imagined it could... :P The Adelaide Crows are in the top 4 and playing pretty good footy. Even better we have those ferals down at Port sitting near the bottom with only one win. It looks very much like they really cant be stuffed playing, and that last year's premiership was enough... not that I'm complaining!
Geeze I'm rather busy atm... work has been hectic with the school holidays, and I am buggered by the end of the day. I've also got the organising of the new Young Adult ministry event called 'Fuel' (formerly Convention) which is happening in only 2 weeks. It is a rather large event really, and I am starting to stress a tad that it wont be all organised in time.... I'm sure it will all fall into place. I can also gaurantee that it will absolutely piss down that weekend cos we really need some rain soon.... its getting a tad desperate in some places. In fact its been a very wierd autumn - Record breaking temperatures and low rainfall. Talking of weather, dont forget to check out my website, http://www.weatherchase.net.

Drugs in Bali
Ok those 9 guys are just plain stupid... just shoot them all! Okay dont shoot them - I'm against capital punishment, but I mean anyone who is that dumb really should face some sort of consequences.
As for the Corby girl, pretty obvious to me anyway that she's innocent. Just set her free - she's paid the price already for her stupidity in not being more careful with her bags.
IMO the police in Indonesia (and in OZ for that matter) need to concentrate more on the head-honchos of the drug trade than these small fry that are just caught up in the making quick bucks naivety.

Have we gone too far?
That is the question I pose today regarding Anzac Day...
Every year it gets bigger and bigger, and to be honest I'm getting a little sick of it. I know I could get howled down in protest over it, but seriously folks, do we need all this hoo-ha? Maybe the 90th anniversay made the day a bit more meaningful than usual but still it was over the top at times.
I think the day is very important for us to remember the lives that were lost and to thank the armed forces for protecting and fighting for us, but I think the whole Gallipoli thing has turned into a bit of a circus. For a start the whole event was a complete cock-up. Anyone who has actually read and studied the event knows that.
Struggling to put my thoughts into words on this subject so i might come back to it, but I'm sure you get my point.

A pope is a pope....
Why does the catholic church need a pope? What they do need is another Reformation if you ask me...
Spent the last 5 years waiting for the old guy to die and then they get another old dude not far off his death bed as well??? 3 steps backwards for the catholic church really by electing this guy. Why not elect a pope who is going to be in touch with the world, 30 years younger, that can make the changes needed to bring the church into the 21st century. They will just see more and more drifting away from the church, or joining a more contemporary church.

Why create a blog?
I'm not sure. I think I like the idea of posting up my thoughts, ideas, and concerns (however meaningless) for others to read.
I suppose it is a bit like a diary as well - what is happening in my life.
I have seen and gained inspiration from Brad, Jo, and Ben's blogs.... they have the right idea - dont go overboard on posting, but post just enough so people will come back to read... We will see how long the motivation for mine lasts lol...
I welcome comments. If only so I know someone is actually reading the bloody thing!!
Anyways, thats my blog... what happens now is anyones guess. I suppose I should make my first controversial comment on the state of this nation, or this world. Or maybe I will just complain about how crappy the Crows were tonight! :P
Take care all...
